UX

I’m currently focusing on the UX - creating products from scratch or improving user experience and engagement in existing games. I have a strong UI/art background though, which helps with collaboration with UI artists and defining further UI tasks.

Every project/company has different needs and production process, but below is a general overview of things I usually work or collaborate on:

Defining the project

  • Understanding the foundation and concept of the project

  • Identifying goals to achieve and issues to solve/avoid

  • Help with defining the high-level concept of production

Research

  • Analysis based on the market, user and competitor research

  • Creating user personas and user stories

    —> collab with research team

Understanding core gameplay flow

  • Taking part in game design brainstorming (if needed)

  • Putting together a core loop flow to document game’s foundation

    —> collab with game design

Creating user flow

  • creating low and high-fidelity user flows - gameplay and feature flows, onboarding flows

  • considering possible edge cases

  • making the layouts as future-proof as possible - considering potential additions, localisation etc

  • adding any needed info to the flow - vfx, sfx, VO
    —> collab with game design and engineering

 

Creating low-fidelity wireframes

  • starting with sketching the layouts

  • creating wireframes to explore the basic structure of the screens
    —> collab with game design and engineering

Creating interactive prototypes

  • click-through prototypes in Figma or Sketch

  • animated prototypes in Principle

Testing & Iterations

  • Preparing prototypes/materials for the playtests

  • Conducting playtests

  • applying feedback based on findings

Creating high-fidelity wireframes and visual mockups

  • from simple sketches to pre-production mockups

Creating final UI assets

VFX prototypes

  • Creating prorotypes for UI animations/VFX/interaction design

  • Collaboration with animators/vfx artists on final effects

UX/UI Documentation

  • Providing specifications needed for implementation

  • Documentation
